Storing Sails

Postby Kelso » Fri Jun 21, 2013 9:48 pm

In this new age of poly-this and that, I'm interested in how to store my sails over the sailing season.

I live in Texas, USA. While they're stored on the spars/masts, horizontally, suspended, in the shade, should I be folding and storing them differently?

I want to be ready to go weekend by weekend. How do you care for your sails in your locale?

I basically leave mine bundled in their traveling racks on the boat all year. No worries as long as I bundle them dry, and keep them dry and dust free. Mold is your worst enemy in humid climates and dust traps moisture. Remember to slack halyards and outhauls. Hoist them in the driveway and hose them down every once in a while. Google sail care.
